What is QOS (Quality of Service)
QOS is an Internet Protocol (IP) routing function. The major forms of communication using internet connection have differing characteristics. Transferring the data of websites and emails isn’t greatly effected by a slight delay in delivery. Voice data transfer – internet telephone service – on the other hand can be altered tremendously by a slight delay in data relay resulting in conversations that are broken, choppy or lost completely. QOS reads the identifiers which differentiate data from voice data transfer and provides a type of traffic systems to ensure that voice data is always transferred and received before web or email data to ensure clear audio transfer and reception for both incoming and outbound calls.
What is VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)
The simple explanation is that VoIP is a process which allows the transmitting of analog voice signals over a digital network. Small to medium-sized businesses are increasingly realizing that this new technology is a dependable and affordable alternative to conventional analog telephone lines. Using a VoIP system transmits phone calls over internet lines instead of conventional phone lines to bypass phone companies and long-distance charges without compromising the quality and easy of use of traditional telephone reception and use.

What is SIP?
SIP is a process that allows for creating, modifying and terminating multimedia sessions with one or more participants. Typical SIP sessions include internet telephone calls and multimedia conferences. SIP is widely used in Voice over Internet Protocol technology.
Do I Need an IP-PBX?
The type of phone system you are currently using determines whether or not you need an IP-PBX. A simple review of your current phone technology and equipment by an AVACOM consultant can quickly determine if you need to add an IP-PBX to your current equipment configuration.
What About 911?
The traditional 911 system in most communities has been upgraded to an E911 system which provides operators with physical addresses for each incoming call. E911-compliant systems connect you – and your address – directly to local public safety officials AVACOM phone lines are fully E911-compliant.
Can I Keep My Current Phone Numbers?
Yes, with a very few exceptions. AVACOM systems support number portability with most service providers; enabling your AVACOM system to be configured with your current business and residential phone numbers. In the majority of conversions, you, your family, your employees and your customers are completely unaware of your system transfer to VoIP.
